A baby elephant is called a calf. At birth, they weigh around 200-250 pounds and are typically able to stand and walk within a few hours of being born. Baby elephants are very dependent on their mothers for the first few years of their life, nursing for up to two years and staying close to their mother for protection and guidance. They are incredibly playful and curious animals, often engaging in games and activities to learn and explore their surroundings. Baby elephants are known to form strong bonds with their family members and other herd members, and they are also very social creatures, enjoying the company of other elephants and engaging in playful interactions with them.
